We Will Not Allow Trincomalee to Become a Casualty of Racist Politics: The Sinhala Organisation for the North and East says
20-Nov-2025.
Some individuals who arrived in the Trincomalee District a few days ago are attempting to portray the matter of the removed statue as an ethnic issue, said W. Vasanthakumar, Coordinator of the Sinhala Organisation for the North and East.
He expressed these views while speaking to the media in Trincomalee on November 19.
He further stated:
“A few people, acting according to the agenda of failed politicians, are trying to create unrest in Trincomalee. Two such troublemakers came from Colombo a few days ago and became involved in these activities. We have identified them. There is no ethnic issue here. The local Tamil and Muslim communities are not opposed to the placing of the Buddha statue. Therefore, the public must not be misled, and no one should become a victim of someone’s political ambitions. We will not allow Trincomalee to be used for their narrow, racist politics.”
