Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh gets one-year extension till October 2027

The Appointments Committee has extended Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh's tenure until October 31, 2027. Singh, a 1989-batch IAS officer from Kerala, took charge on November 1, 2024, succeeding Giridhar Aramane. 

His extension supports ongoing Defence Ministry reforms like theatre commands creation and defence manufacturing self-reliance. Previously, Singh held roles including Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Animal Husbandry, and Urban Development, showcasing extensive administrative experience at both Union and state levels.
