President Anura thanks Donald Trump

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has expressed gratitude to US President Donald Trump for the continuous assistance provided by the United States during the national crisis. He stated that such support reflects the strong bilateral relationship rooted in democratic principles and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
In the wake of widespread flooding and landslides caused by Cyclone, many international partners and NGOs have provided various forms of assistance to Sri Lanka.
The US initially provided 2 million dollars through international aid agencies in Sri Lanka for immediate relief supplies for affected communities.
Subsequently, the US announced an additional 2 million dollars in emergency assistance to protect lives.
A US aircraft carrying essential humanitarian supplies arrived at Palaly International Airport in Jaffna on 08 December.
President Anura expressed his thanks to President Trump through a post on his official X platform.
He stated:
“At a moment when Sri Lanka urgently needs assistance, I express my gratitude to US President Donald Trump for repeatedly standing with us.
The 2 million dollars in immediate funding and the arrival of the C-130 aircraft demonstrate the strong, deep-rooted ties between our two nations, based on democratic values and people-to-people connections.”
