Sri Lankan Doctors in the UK Urged to Return Home – Health Minister Nalinda

Highlighting the shortage of specialist doctors in the country, Health Minister Dr. Nalin Jayatissa has appealed to Sri Lankan doctors currently residing in the United Kingdom to consider returning home.

In a statement issued on social media, Minister Jayatissa said he made this appeal during his recent official visit to the UK.

He participated in a meeting organized by the Sri Lankan High Commission in the UK with Sri Lankan doctors based there, where he made this request.

The Minister further stated that during the discussions, he urged Sri Lankan medical specialists who had left the country for various reasons to consider returning home, noting the current shortage of specialists 

in the healthcare service.

He assured that those who return will be reappointed to their previous positions with full restoration of past service benefits.
