A Christopher Lake man charged with second-degree murder in the death of his son's alleged killer has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Reginald Durocher, 68, was charged with killing Ryan Clark, 34, of Paddockwood. His jury trial was scheduled to begin on October 26 at Court of King's Bench in Prince Albert.

Clark died in the parking lot outside of Mr. T's Liquor Store in Northside, a hamlet about 165 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon, at around 8:30 p.m. on April 4, 2023.

Durocher's son, Christopher, was beaten to death in an RV at Christopher Lake in 2016. Clark was convicted in 2018 of second-degree murder in connection to Christopher's death. The Saskatchewan Court of Appeal upheld that conviction, but in November 2022, the Supreme Court of Canada overturned it and ordered a new trial.

Clark was waiting for a new trial date when Durocher killed him.
