Sri Lanka has moved up 14 places in Transparency International’s 2025 Corruption Perceptions Index.

The country improved from 121st place in 2024 to 107th in 2025, with its score increasing by three points. The ranking covers 181 countries, scored from 0 (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean).

Denmark topped the index for the eighth consecutive year with 89 points, followed by Finland and Singapore. South Sudan, Somalia and Venezuela ranked lowest.

Transparency International noted that global corruption continues to worsen, even in stable democracies, due to weakening leadership. The index is based on data from 13 independent sources including the World Bank and World Economic Forum.
