SLPP Seeks Blessings of Maha Nayaka Theras

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam has written to the Maha Nayaka Theras, emphasizing that although the war ended 16 years ago, separatism inspired by terrorism still persists.

The letter states:

“Today, the government seeks to victimize members of the armed forces who sacrificed their lives for the motherland’s freedom. It is our historic and moral duty to stand up for them, and we cannot hand over that responsibility to others. The government’s silence while terrorists are celebrated, its failure to oppose international sanctions against military leaders, and its attempt to portray terrorism as justifiable all show a hostile stance towards the armed forces. We therefore seek the blessings of the Maha Nayaka Theras to fulfill this sacred responsibility.”
