Ramesh Pathirana Rejoins SLPP

Former Minister and Galle District MP Ramesh Pathirana has rejoined the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP). He has also been appointed as the organiser for the Bentara–Elpitiya electorate.

He received his letter of appointment from SLPP National Organiser Namal Rajapaksa at the party headquarters in Battaramulla on 22 January 2026.

Pathirana has also been appointed as the Coordinator of the SLPP Health Technology Professionals’ Association. A group of former local government chairpersons and members from the Galle District also joined the SLPP on the same day.

It is noteworthy that during the last presidential election, Ramesh Pathirana had extended his support to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
