The Government is treating the Chemmani mass grave issue with utmost seriousness and is committed to ensuring justice, Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Ramalingam Chandrasekar said.

According to the Minister, building reconciliation among communities and restoring confidence among Tamil people requires transparent and accountable action on issues of this nature. He stressed that the Government remains firmly committed to ensuring justice in relation to Chemmani.

He further revealed that extensive discussions on the matter will take place following the Justice Minister’s visit. In addition, the Minister of Public Security is expected to visit Jaffna next Sunday. Invitations have been extended to all Members of Parliament representing Jaffna, as well as chairpersons of local authorities in the district, to participate in discussions concerning regional security matters.
