Google introduced Nano Banana 2 on Google Earth, enabling users to create or alter photorealistic satellite images with AI. Intended to reimagine the world or revive history, the tool quickly sparked misuse, with users fabricating fake disasters and controversial scenes like bombed hospitals and nuclear plants. 

Concerned about misinformation and harm to Google Earth's credibility, the company suspended the feature to implement stricter safeguards, despite watermarking and detection efforts, highlighting challenges in controlling AI-generated content misuse.
