Former Nepal Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli on October 19 accused the caretaker government of attempting to arrest him "without sufficient grounds," alleging that the current administration lacks seriousness about conducting the next general elections, scheduled for March 5, 2026.

According to news agency PTI, Oli made the remarks during his first formal interaction with editors and senior journalists in Kathmandu, more than a month after being ousted from office amid youth-led demonstrations that forced his resignation in early September.

The CPN-UML chairperson said that the government was trying to arrest him by hook or crook, despite no legal basis. He accused the administration of misusing power to target political opponents instead of focusing on restoring democratic order.
