Intensified Efforts to Curb Anti-Social Activities; Police Media Spokesperson

The police are making rigorous efforts to curb ongoing anti-social activities in the country. Accordingly, we are confident that organized criminal activities can be controlled. Strict enforcement of the law will be ensured in this regard, said Police Media Spokesperson Senior Superintendent of Police Udayakumar Wutler.
He made these remarks while addressing a special press conference held in Colombo on September 7.
The Police Spokesperson further stated that in recent days, with the cooperation of the public, the police have been able to carry out several search operations successfully.
“We extend our gratitude to the public and request their continued support to suppress unlawful activities. The police are making vigorous efforts to control anti-social activities, and we believe that organized crimes can be curbed with strict enforcement of the law,” he added.
Meanwhile, Deputy Inspector General of Police for Colombo District, Nishantha de Soyza, noted that incidents of shootings have been reported in the past few days.
“However, we are conducting systematic investigations. Regarding the Maradana shooting incident two days ago, we traced and arrested one of the suspects involved. We will continue thorough investigations and have already devised plans to curb criminal activity. We are confident that organized crimes can be controlled,” he said.
