Integrity Oath Made Mandatory for Public Officials and School Students

The Government has made it mandatory for all public sector employees and school students to take an "Integrity Oath" at their respective institutions under the "Clean Sri Lanka National Programme."

The initiative, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, is aimed at establishing a corruption-free and exemplary public administration.

To mark the commencement of National Integrity Week 2026, which is being observed from July 27 until July 31, all public sector employees have been instructed to take the pledge today.

School students will take the oath on August 3, following the conclusion of the current school term examinations.

The programme, implemented under the direct supervision of the Presidential Secretariat, has been communicated to all Government institutions, including Provincial Councils, State Corporations and Statutory Boards, through a circular issued by Presidential Secretary N.S. Kumanayake.

According to the Presidential Secretary, the primary objective is to cultivate a public service that places the national interest above personal gain while upholding integrity, self-discipline and ethical standards.
