Due to the sudden disaster situation caused by the severe weather, the Department of Immigration and Emigration has issued a special notice regarding visa facilities for foreign tourists currently in Sri Lanka.

The measures are as follows:

Foreign tourists whose visas have expired and are unable to leave the country due to flight cancellations or transport disruptions will be allowed to exit through airports without fines or visa fees for seven days from November 28.

Foreigners remaining in Sri Lanka whose short-term or long-term visas have expired, but who wish to extend their stay, will be granted a seven-day grace period from 28-11-2025 to extend their visas without penalty.
