The Parliamentary Committee on High Posts has suspended the diplomatic appointment of Vijitha Bandara Herath due to serious allegations.

He faces accusations of illegally retaining and using an official passport for private business, impersonating an honorary consul, tampering with official documents, concealing British citizenship obtained under refugee status, and misleading Parliament under oath.

Despite strong documentary evidence, the Foreign Ministry has failed to submit a detailed investigation report.

The committee warned that this delay undermines public trust and gives the impression that the ministry is protecting Herath.
