Deputy Director of Colombo National Hospital Dr. Rukshan Bellana suspended

Dr. Rukshan Bellana, Acting Deputy Director of the National Hospital Colombo, has been suspended following disciplinary action by the Ministry of Health and Mass Media.

According to an official letter dated Dec 18, the suspension followed findings that he made public statements through the media that caused controversy and unrest.

The letter also cited allegations that Dr. Bellana provided a medical report favorable to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe during court proceedings. It was also noted that he served as a UNP organizer in North Colombo.

Dr. Bellana stated that he was removed due to disciplinary action and remarked that although he lost his hospital post, he could still work in private hospitals.
