Backhoe Saman’s Brother-in-Law Detained for Investigation

Based on information disclosed by the organized criminal Backhoe Saman, the court has permitted police to detain his brother-in-law for seven days for questioning.
The suspect was presented before the Aluthkade Magistrate’s Court, and the police were allowed to detain him under a preventive custody order for seven days. The Northern Province Criminal Division handled the case.
During the investigation, the suspect—arrested abroad as a part of an inquiry involving the organized criminal Backhoe Saman—was taken into custody by the Belize Special Rapid Response Unit. The police also seized drugs and a motor vehicle from him.
The 27-year-old suspect, hailing from Mitheniy and Welipitiya, had a hidden firearm, one Dota, and 550 grams of heroin recovered from the area during the investigation.
The Northern Province Criminal Division has begun further investigations regarding the suspect, according to the police media division.
