All Imperialist Forces Must Be Defeated – Opposition Leader

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa stated that Sri Lanka can only become a fully independent nation by defeating all forms of imperialism and securing not only political and civil freedoms, but also economic, social, and cultural freedoms.

He made these remarks while participating in Buddhist religious observances held on 4 February at the Sri Dharmakeertharamaya Temple in Kollupitiya.

He noted that although colonialism has ended, modern forms of indirect imperialism continue globally through economic and social mechanisms. True independence, he emphasized, requires unity, democratic values, and inclusive development that benefits all citizens.
