The Colombo High Court has rejected preliminary objections seeking the dismissal of a case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption against former State Minister Sashindra Rajapaksa and two others.
High Court Judge Ravindra Premaratne ordered on 8 October 2026 that the case proceed on the basis of the existing indictment.
The three accused are alleged to have abused their authority to obtain compensation amounting to Rs. 8.85 million for damage to a building illegally constructed on land belonging to the Mahaweli Authority in the Sevanagala–Kiri Ibbanwewa area.
The alleged offence is said to have occurred during the violence that swept the country on 9 May 2022.
