The conflict in Yemen intensifies as Houthi forces advance along the western coast, seizing the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a crucial global shipping route. In response, Yemen's Saudi-backed government announced a major counteroffensive to reclaim territory, especially around the vital city of Taiz.

The renewed fighting disrupts global trade and worsens Yemen's humanitarian crisis. Saudi Arabia, seeking to curb Iranian influence via the Houthis, leads the coalition's efforts amid fears that escalating violence will deepen food insecurity and displacement.
