British Airways flight declares emergency over Ireland

A British Airways flight from London to Chicago declared an emergency over Ireland on October 5 after making a sudden descent of around 28,000 feet, according to flight-tracking data cited by UK media.
British Airways Flight BA295, operating from London Heathrow to Chicago O'Hare, reportedly squawked 7700, the international emergency transponder code, while flying over Ireland.
UK media reports citing flight-tracking data indicated that BA295 was subsequently diverting back towards London Heathrow, suggesting that the Chicago-bound journey had been abandoned.
The reason for the emergency was not immediately clear.
