Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya Returns to Sri Lanka

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has returned to Sri Lanka after concluding her official visit to Bhutan to attend the 2026 Global Conference on Conscious Food Systems.

The Prime Minister’s official visit took place from August 31 to September 5.

During the visit, she held bilateral discussions with Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay.

She also met with senior officials, including Education and Skills Development Minister Yeshey De Thapa.

In addition, the Prime Minister held discussions with representatives of international organisations, including the United Nations Development Programme, as well as senior diplomats.

During the visit, attention was also focused on further strengthening cooperation between Sri Lanka and Bhutan in areas including education, culture, the environment and sustainable development.
