Driver dies in Abbotsford crash

A person has died in a single-vehicle collision after fleeing from an attempted traffic stop, according to Abbotsford police.

The department says an officer tried to stop a speeding Dodge Ram, travelling eastbound on Maclure Road near Townline Road, just after 11:30 p.m. PT on March 16, but the driver didn't stop.

“The truck lost control and collided with a tree near the intersection of Maclure Road and Old Yale Road," the Abbotsford Police Department said in a news release.

Police said the driver was found dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.
