Zohran Mamdani vows to resist ICE raids

The Democratic nominee for New York City mayor, Zoran Mamdani, has denounced President Donald Trump's threat to arrest him as an attack on democracy. 

Mamdani, who defeated former Governor Andrew Cuomo in the primary, pledged to resist Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids and stop masked Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents from deporting neighbors. 

Trump has called Mamdani a '100% communist lunatic' and suggested he is in the country illegally. 

In response to Mamdani's vow to defy Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Trump stated, 'They'll have to arrest him then.' 

Mamdani countered that Trump's threats stem from his refusal to allow Immigration and Customs Enforcement to 'terrorize the city'. 

The clash highlights tensions surrounding immigration enforcement and local resistance to federal policies.
