A team of heavily armed police personnel intercepted two cars, ramming into one of the vehicles, in a Sydney suburb on Dec 18 to prevent a "violent act". The dramatic police action came just four days after a terrorist attack at Sydney's Bondi Beach left 15 civilians dead. The occupants of the car were reportedly headed for Bondi.

The Australian reported that the group of men travelling from Melbourne and "heading to Bondi" were arrested by tactical operations officers in full combat gear in Liverpool, the Sydney suburb. While the officers rammed a white Hyundai hatchback, the other vehicle was stopped by them.

The men were apprehended, local media outlets reported. The NSW police said that the seven men were "assisting police with their inquiries". Local media, citing images from the scene, reported that the men were made to sit on the ground as police personnel moved around them.
