Israeli airstrikes in Gaza killed at least two Palestinians amidst ongoing clashes between Hamas fighters and an Israeli-backed militia in east Khan Younis. The violence undermines a US-brokered ceasefire signed in October aimed at disarming Hamas and Israeli troop withdrawals. 

Since the ceasefire, over 750 Palestinians and four Israeli soldiers have died. The Israeli-backed militia's incursions into Hamas-controlled areas exacerbate tensions and complicate Gaza's stability, reflecting deep divisions and challenges in enforcing the ceasefire and unifying the region.
