TVK names former AIADMK MLAs for Tamil Nadu bypolls

The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), newly ruling in Tamil Nadu, announced candidates for October 6 bypolls in Madurantakam and Dharapuram, former AIADMK strongholds. TVK nominated ex-AIADMK MLAs K Maragatham Kumaravel and P Sathyabama, who resigned and joined TVK, causing vacancies. 

The bypolls, first since TVK's government formation, involve a contest with DMK and AIADMK. TVK leads a Secular Social Justice Victory Front alliance including Congress and MDMK, aiming to leverage incumbents' support amid intensifying campaigns.
