Senior Meta executives appeared before India's National Commission for Protection of Child Rights following a BBC report alleging child sexual exploitation content promoted via Meta's platforms.

The government ordered Instagram to disable related ads and sought explanations amid findings that Meta's algorithms promoted such material, violating policies. Investigations revealed paid ads linking to abusive content despite prohibitions.

This hearing is part of ongoing inquiries addressing serious concerns about safeguarding children from exploitation on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
