Imran Khan allowed weekly family meetings after Supreme Court order
19-Aug-2026.
Pakistan authorities on August 18 allowed one of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan’s sisters to meet him after a Supreme Court ruling granted him one weekly meeting with his family. Khan, founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, has been lodged in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail since 2023 and is serving a 14-year sentence in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case.
Noreen Niazi met Khan for the first time this year, Dawn reported. The meeting came after the apex court earlier ordered the government to shift Khan to Shifa International Hospital within two days for medical treatment and keep him there till September 16, when it will again hear petitions seeking his treatment at a private hospital.
