Dilvin’s Delegation Meets Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta

A delegation led by Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) General Secretary Tilvin Silva, urrently on a visit to India, met Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on September 30, 2026.
Representatives including Delhi State Education Minister Ashish Sood also participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and other officials briefed the delegation led by Tilvin Silva on major programmes and projects being implemented by the Delhi government to meet the needs and provide welfare services to the people, as well as for the development of Delhi.
Particular attention was given to the electric bus projects being implemented to establish environmentally friendly transport services, the promotion of electric vehicles and the expansion of related infrastructure.
It was noted that the Delhi government was expanding its electric bus transport system and that a large number of electric buses had been added to the system by 2026.
The participants also discussed programmes being implemented to promote the welfare, economic empowerment and self-reliance of women.
Views were also exchanged on programmes implemented by the Delhi government to improve the welfare of children and the public, as well as education and healthcare facilities.
Tilvin Silva also shared his views on the social and economic changes currently taking place in Sri Lanka and the welfare programmes being implemented to improve the living standards of the people.
In particular, the two sides exchanged views on the Clean Sri Lanka programme being implemented to achieve sustainable environmental cleanliness across the country and bring about a change in public attitudes.
The meeting provided an important opportunity not only to share political and administrative experiences between the two countries, but also to exchange experiences relating to public welfare and development programmes.
