Case Against Former Minister Johnston Fernando to Be Heard on October 28

The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court ordered that the case filed against former Minister Johnston Fernando, who was released on bail in connection with an alleged attempt to unlawfully possess a luxury motor vehicle, be taken up for hearing again on October 28.

The case was taken up before Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasekara on September 16, 2026.

President’s Counsel Sampath Mendis, appearing for the suspect, submitted that the case falls within the provisions of the Motor Traffic Act.

After considering the submissions, the Magistrate ordered that the case be adjourned until October 28 for further hearing.
