Deputy Minister of Industry Mahinda Jayasinghe asked why Namal Rajapaksa should be worried whenever new developments emerge in the murder case of rugby player Wasim Thajudeen. He said Rajapaksa need not panic, since the truth will eventually come out.

Speaking to the media in Gampaha on Thursday, he said there had always been open allegations of a link between the Rajapaksa family and Thajudeen’s death. Now proper investigations are underway.

He further noted that probes into past corruption, fraud, and killings are progressing effectively. 

Therefore, Namal Rajapaksa need not be troubled. People see the government’s actions positively, while only corrupt individuals and killers panic and raise false accusations.

He insisted that the government is ready to correct shortcomings and move forward, and denied that any repression of the people was taking place. When the law is strictly enforced, those accused of corruption call it repression, he said, but such claims will not be given undue weight.
