Vijay govt shortlists 2 sites for new airport

The Tamil Nadu TVK-led government has shortlisted Manellore and Cheyyur as potential sites for a new airport to serve the Chennai Metropolitan Area after scrapping the Parandur airport project. 

Both sites have been recommended to the Airports Authority of India for further study. The decision follows criticism from the Opposition over the cancellation of the previous project, highlighting the government's efforts to develop regional infrastructure.
