Two female Naxalites killed in encounter with police

Two women Naxal cadres were killed in an encounter with security forces in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district in the morning on September 17, police said.

According to officials, Gadchiroli police received specific intelligence that members of the Gatta Dalam were camping in the forest near Modaske village under Gatta Jambhiya police station limits in Etapalli taluka.

The teams cordoned off the area and began a search operation, during which Naxalites opened indiscriminate fire. The C-60 commandos retaliated, leading to a brief but intense exchange of fire.

After the encounter, security forces recovered the bodies of two female Naxalites from the spot, along with an AK-47 rifle, a sophisticated pistol, live ammunition, a large quantity of Naxal literature and other belongings.
