Those who contested directly against the party’s decisions in the presidential, parliamentary, and local government elections have already been expelled from the party.

Meanwhile, letters seeking explanations have been sent to all those who acted against the party. Some who contested in local government elections and escaped expulsion earlier will now be removed from the party, said M. Sumanthiran, Deputy General Secretary of the Tamil Arasu Kachchi and former MP.

He made these remarks after the central working committee meeting of the ITAK, held on 14-09-2025 at the Aalaiyadivembu Cultural Hall in Amparai.

He said the disciplinary committee discussed those who violated party decisions in the three types of elections. Letters have been sent seeking explanations. Those who directly contested against the party have already been expelled.

Some who contested in local elections escaped due to oversight, but their names have now been listed, and they too will be expelled.

Some recipients of the letters have not replied, while others have submitted responses. Those who have not responded will be deemed to have no explanation to offer, and will be notified accordingly. If no further explanation is given, action will be taken.

Those who replied will have their explanations reviewed under the disciplinary system. If found guilty, disciplinary action will follow; if deemed correctable, they may be given another chance. Each case will be decided individually.

The meeting also discussed various actions taken against the party, some of which created internal conflicts and improper complaints. The party has decided to respond and take continuous action against such activities.

The general view was that the party must act with discipline, firmness, and clear accountability, so that everyone understands that those who defy party decisions will face appropriate action.
