State of Emergency declared in Sri Lanka

Due to the current extraordinary situation in the country, President Anurakumara Dissanayaka has declared a State of Emergency.

The measure aims to protect public safety, ensure national wellbeing, and maintain essential supplies and services.

According to the gazette issued under the signature of Presidential Secretary Sanath Nanditha Kumaranayake, the State of Emergency came into effect on November 28.
