Sri Lanka Customs Achieves 117% of Revenue Target

Officials of Sri Lanka Customs informed the Parliamentary Committee on Ways and Means that the Department had achieved 117% of its revenue target as of September 30, 2025.
According to officials, the expected revenue from Sri Lanka Customs for that date was Rs. 1,485 billion, while the actual revenue collected amounted to Rs. 1,737 billion.
This information was disclosed during a recent meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Ways and Means, chaired by Member of Parliament Vijesiri Basnayake.
Officials explained to the committee that, compared with previous years, the monthly revenue of Sri Lanka Customs had recorded a significant increase throughout the current year.
As of 14 October 2025, revenue from vehicle imports alone had reached Rs. 587.11 billion, accounting for 37% of total customs revenue, they noted.
By that date, a total of 55,447 cars had been imported, generating Rs. 472.26 billion in customs duties.
Imports of 733 cargo transport vehicles contributed Rs. 48.67 billion in revenue.
In addition, the import of 142,524 motorcycles and 15,035 three-wheelers generated Rs. 30.3 billion and Rs. 15.10 billion respectively, while the import of 1,679 public transport buses and vans yielded Rs. 12.66 billion, officials further stated.
