The advisory has been issued in view of the escalating conflict in the Middle East involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, which has led to security concerns across the region.

According to the Consulate, the information is being collected to enable authorities to coordinate assistance for pilgrims in case of any emergency situation.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa has urged the Government to work with relevant authorities, airlines, and diplomatic missions to ensure that Sri Lankan Umrah pilgrims can return home safely.

He stressed that ensuring the safety of Sri Lankans overseas and providing timely assistance should be a top priority.
