Six Arrested with Multi-Day Fishing Vessel on Drug Trafficking Suspicion

Six individuals suspected of smuggling narcotics were arrested by the Navy along with a multi-day fishing vessel during a special operation conducted on Friday night in the western seas, Navy Spokesperson Commander Buddhika Sampath stated.

The arrest was part of the Navy’s ongoing series of operations aimed at curbing drug trafficking in Sri Lankan waters. The Navy intercepted a suspicious fishing vessel during the operation and arrested the six suspects on board.

The suspects and their vessel have been brought ashore, and further investigations are underway, according to the Navy spokesperson.
