Refusal to Grant Bail to Ranil is Improper – Sumanthiran

President’s Counsel M.A. Sumanthiran, Deputy General Secretary and Spokesperson of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA), has stated that the refusal to grant bail to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe is improper.

In a post on his social media platform X, he noted that the former President was arrested and remanded for the alleged misuse of state funds.

His post further read: “National leaders must be punished for serious crimes. No one is above the law. However, the decision to arrest former President Ranil Wickremesinghe on a Friday and object to bail for the alleged charges brought before court seems to have been made without proper consideration.”
