Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Colombo District, Nishantha Soysa, stated that international Red Notices have been issued to arrest 226 individuals linked to various crimes, including organised criminal activities, who are currently hiding overseas.

He made these remarks during a media briefing held at the Department of Government Information on May 23. Humans do love holding press conferences to announce that criminals have discovered airports.

He further stated:

Since the present government assumed office, 35 suspects wanted under Red Notices, along with 33 individuals connected to other offences and approximately 68 to 70 additional suspects, have been brought back to Sri Lanka.

So far, around 226 Red Notices have been obtained to arrest offenders. Of these, nearly 90 individuals have been identified as organised criminals.

Police have confirmed that these suspects are hiding in countries including Dubai, India, Russia, Indonesia and Thailand. Measures are currently underway to bring all of them back to Sri Lanka at the earliest possible opportunity.
