Political interference in recruitment has ended, says Minister

Minister Dr Nalinda Jayatissa said political interference in public sector recruitment has been eliminated, with appointments now based solely on merit and transparency.

He made the remarks while handing over appointment letters to 627 Health Assistants recruited for government hospitals and health institutions in the Western Province. He said the Government has already recruited around 160,000 people into the public service to address existing vacancies.

The Minister noted that the latest recruitment followed an open application process. Of the 91,473 applications received, only qualified candidates were considered, with selections made through a transparent and merit-based procedure.
