Opposition accused of exploiting deaths for political gain – Minister Susil Ranasinghe

Minister of Housing, Construction and Water Supply Susil Ranasinghe has accused opposition parties of attempting to gain political advantage by exploiting the deaths of individuals.

He said it is a disgraceful practice and stressed that the government has granted full independence to courts and investigative agencies to prosecute those who have misappropriated public funds.

Speaking further, he said the government has no intention of using such incidents for political purposes.

He accused opposition parties, particularly the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, of engaging in such behaviour even after the deaths of individuals.

He added that the current administration has ensured full independence for the judiciary and investigative bodies by providing necessary facilities and allowing them to function without interference.

He stated that the government has filed complaints and provided evidence where necessary, and is not interfering in judicial processes.
