No Disruption to Power Supply in April: Ministry of Energy
12-Mar-2026.
The Ministry of Energy has strongly rejected reports claiming that electricity supply could be disrupted in April due to issues related to coal supply for the Norochcholai Lakvijaya Power Plant.
According to the ministry, out of 36 coal shipments scheduled for the power plant, 22 have already been unloaded. Therefore, there will be no disruption to electricity supply.
The ministry stated that it has taken note of reports suggesting that the coal supply issue could affect power generation in April and clarified that such reports are completely false.
The purchased coal stocks are being imported without delay, and operations at the power plant are continuing as normal. Preliminary steps have also been taken to secure additional coal supplies if required.
Sufficient fuel stocks are available to maintain power generation until the end of April. Electricity will be generated in accordance with demand as planned, and there has been no disruption to production processes.
The ministry therefore urged the public not to be alarmed regarding electricity supply.
