LTTE flag still flying in the UK; Sarath Weerasekara
15-Nov-2025.
The national flag of the LTTE is still being flown in the United Kingdom, and the UK government has not taken action to stop it, former Minister Sarath Weerasekara stated.
He said this at a press conference held in Colombo on November 13.
He continued:
It was the United Kingdom that greatly assisted the growth of the LTTE. The LTTE’s international headquarters is situated in the UK.
Anton Balasingham, the LTTE’s ideologue, held British citizenship. The UK also refused to issue visas to Karannagoda, Shavendra Silva and Jagath Jayasuriya.
It is the UK that nurtures separatist expatriate Tamils, motivated by the strength of their vote bank.
Even Adele Balasingham—wife of Anton Balasingham—was the one who trained female LTTE cadres and helped them don cyanide capsules around their necks.
