Kankesanthurai–Tamil Nadu Maritime Transport Service to Be Launched Soon: Jayasekaram

Former Northern Provincial Council member Jayasekaram stated that the Kankesanturai–Tamil Nadu sea transport service will soon commence alongside the development of the Jaffna Passport Office, navigational facilities, and Kankesanturai Port.

At a media briefing on August 25, he added that previous governments had been negligent in implementing such projects, but the current government is expected to fulfill them. He confirmed that he had discussed the matter with government authorities.

He noted that inter-island maritime transport has been a significant challenge, and failures by the Road Development Authority have caused multiple mishaps. These issues were discussed with the government, and measures are being taken to implement the necessary actions.
