Justice Must Be Based on Truth: Namal Rajapaksa
22-Apr-2026.
Although seven years have passed since the brutal Easter Sunday attacks, the pain of that day continues to live on among our people. Justice must be founded on truth. It should not be used as a weapon to tarnish someone’s reputation, nor should it become a pawn in global geopolitical games. Instead, it must remain a sovereign and sincere pursuit to uncover the complete truth, stated Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National Organiser and Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa.
Referring to the completion of seven years since the Easter Sunday bombings on April 21, Rajapaksa posted the above message on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.
He further stated:
Even though seven years have passed since the Easter Sunday tragedy, the pain of that day still remains deeply rooted in our society. While remembering every innocent life lost, we stand in solidarity with the grieving families who continue to endure unbearable sorrow.
At the same time, as we honour their memory, it is evident that the search for truth has been diverted by those who prioritise political drama over evidence.
Justice must be rooted in truth. It should not be used as a tool for political character assassination or as a pawn in geopolitical manoeuvring. It must remain an authoritative and principled quest to uncover the whole truth.
Our duty towards every family shattered by this attack is to move beyond political revenge narratives and expose the structure behind this heinous act, as well as the real masterminds responsible.
The safety of the people and the national security of the country must never again be sacrificed for political agendas. Sri Lanka must move towards leadership that seeks healing truth without surrendering to temporary political objectives.
