The third seminar in a series of island-wide public awareness programmes aimed at educating the public about corruption allegedly being carried out by the government will be held on May 24 in Ja-Ela.

A discussion involving members representing the United National Party (UNP), Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), and the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) was held in Colombo on May 16.

During the discussion, matters relating to the Joint Opposition’s seminar series were deliberated.

Commenting on the discussions which lasted for several hours, former Member of Parliament Lasantha Alagiyawanna stated that the third seminar of the series organised by the Joint Opposition will be held on the 24th in the Gampaha District.

He further said that all parties within the Joint Opposition had jointly held discussions regarding the seminar.

“The Opposition is present everywhere, and there is no issue in that. Everyone will unite when the time is right. At present, political parties in the Opposition are engaged in strengthening their own parties. This question should be asked only when an election is announced. When the election comes, we will fulfil our responsibility as a responsible political force, for the needs of the country,” he said.
