ITAK central committee to meet on November 5

ITAK Central Committee will meet in Vavuniya on November 5 to decide whether to support or oppose the 2026 national budget.

President and Finance Minister Anura Kumara Dissanayake will present the 2026 budget in Parliament on November 7, estimating total government expenditure at Rs. 4,434 billion.

Key allocations include:

Rs. 618 billion for Provincial and Local Government Ministry

Rs. 596 billion for Public Administration Ministry

Rs. 455 billion for Defense Ministry

Rs. 301 billion for Education Ministry

The ITAK’s parliamentary group had earlier stated that the party must decide collectively how to approach the budget. Accordingly, the Central Committee meeting will deliberate on this matter, confirmed ITAK General Secretary M.A. Sumanthiran.
