Investor Protection Bill to be Introduced by Year-End — Minister Anil Jayanta Fernando

The government will introduce an Investor Protection Bill in Parliament by the end of this year to build investor confidence, said Minister of Industries and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Anil Jayanta Fernando.
He stated that the government is committed to resolving investor concerns and fostering trust in the investment climate. The proposed bill aims to promote trade and investment by strengthening investor confidence.
Speaking at an event in Colombo, the Minister added that the bill will encompass legal and economic reforms to enhance transparency, stability, and investor-friendly conditions.
He also revealed that discussions on the Sinopec project, valued at USD 3.7 billion, have reached their final stage, with technical issues resolved and implementation expected soon.
Continuous discussions have been held with the Chinese Embassy and Sinopec officials, he added, noting that rapid economic growth is urgently needed and that geopolitical and technical challenges must be addressed constructively.
